Fishing Out of Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral gives Brevard anglers direct Atlantic access plus the Banana and Indian River systems. It works for private boats, offshore charters, nearshore runs and anglers who want a public pier option.

Kingfish and scattered cobia are still producing while the fall bait migration resets after the wind.

The latest Port Canaveral report describes a slower pick of kingfish with a few cobia around 8A and Pelican after rough weather disrupted the bunker schools. Broader October reports still favor the fall transition, with kingfish improving and mahi, blackfin tuna, wahoo and sailfish becoming part of the offshore mix as bait and conditions line up.

Conditions: The weekly Space Coast forecast expects stronger onshore flow after the early-week window, with seas building into roughly 3–4 feet and scattered storms. Early starts remain the better play, but radar and the live marine forecast matter.
Bait / approach: Frozen minnows with dusters produced after the wind when bunker were harder to find. If live bait schools re-form, stay with the bait rather than running past it.
Best window: Use the cleanest weather window and check the NWS marine forecast before making a long offshore run.
